How does having a “social” presence enhance my SEO efforts?
You’ve got it set up now. Your company’s Facebook page is gathering likes, the Twitter account has more followers than expected and you have become an expert on uploading YouTube videos. Do you know how your increased social presence will affect or has affected your website’s SEO efforts though?
Social Proof results in better Search Engine Rankings
Google and Bing have been using social media as a factor in their search engine rankings since 2010. The more links, shares, retweets and other social “proofs” you have, the better. Each “proof” acts as a vote of confidence in your website and your business. This shows the search engines you are an authority in your industry and boosts your website in the search results pages. However, it’s important to remember that social media is much more than just a chance to enhance your SEO efforts. It is where you engage your customers and work to keep them coming back to your business time and time again.
Don’t forget to measure your campaigns
You must be able to measure your social media marketing campaigns too. You should know which tweets, Facebook posts, pictures, or videos garner the most responses, as well as other indicators. This will give you direction in future social media activity and enhance your SEO campaign.
Your social presence will undoubtedly increase your search engine relevancy, but by promoting your content through the social networks, you are also increasing your following, building authority and your brand, and driving traffic to your website.
